DC heavy metal: feels good man

Did a rude fucking show the other day with Inter Arma, Cough, Ilsa and Revolta. That was great. There was one dumb, super tall college kid wearing a Behemoth shirt and an Amon Amarth jacket patch (too easy to make fun of so I’ll refrain) who told Cough they sucked after their set. Well, someone’s not allowed back to any more of my shows! Of course, it’s funny that he told Cough they sucked, since they’re on Relapse and becoming big household names across America as we speak, and he was into big household-name metal bands and everything…

Even though I run with the devil by association, I am no stranger to upbeat tunes and feeling good in general. (To boot: Helloween’s Keeper of the Seven Keys, Part II has been on constant rotation in my car the past few weeks. Michael Kiske – best metal singer of all time?) And what was it specifically I said about music and health all those posts ago? Something about how, if people are almost all equally receptive to the sensation of painkillers entering the bloodstream, why aren’t they equally ensconced by compassionate music? The jury’s still out on that one, because nobody cares, apparently. But the point is this: Susumu Hirasawa is some next-level painkiller narcotic!
